| Applicable Allowances & Grants
When you send in
your application to your LEA for support you may, depending
upon
your circumstances,
be able to apply for extra assistance. These special grants
are not normally repayable. Parents’ Learning
Allowance
Helps
with course related costs for students who have dependent
children. The amount you
receive depends on your income and that of your dependants
including your husband / wife or partner, up to a maximum
of £1,300.
Adult
Dependants’ Grant
If
you have a husband / wife or partner, or perhaps another
family member who depends
on you financially, you might be able eligible for
this grant. How much you receive depends on your income and
that of your
adult dependants. Up to £2,335 per academic year
is allowed.
Childcare Grant
This grant is aimed
at parents, in particular single parents, with
a contribution towards the costs of registered
childcare during academic term time and vacations.
Grants are based on a percentage of your actual
costs, subject to maximum
costs of £135 per week for a parent with one
child, or £200
per week for a parent with two or more children.
