Converting
currencies
Exchanging
There may be times when you will
need to convert your currency. There are several ways you
can do this. Currency exchanges
can be done at most local banks, airports and specialist
currency exchangers (such as American Express).
However,
it is better to exchange your currency at your local
bank before you travel since exchange rates are much better
in a bank instead of at an airport currency exchange
office
or at your destination.
Once you are at your destination,
you may be able to withdraw money in the local currency
from an ATM or
cash machine provided
you have a credit card or bank debit card connected with
credit providers such as Visa or MasterCard.
Take
note though, that
bank fees for this service may be relatively high and
the exchange rate may be less favourable.
As much as possible,
avoid changing money at a currency exchange in known tourist
areas. These places often
have less favourable
exchange rates and charge higher commission fees.
Checking
the Exchange Rate
Currency exchange rates can be
easily and conveniently accessed through an online money
converter, such
as at http://www.xe.com/ucc/full.shtml.
This particular money converter is easy to use
and the conversion rates are updated daily. |
